Been trying to end my workday before sundown from before sankranti. Looks like I'll make it today. #icfjworkshop pic.twitter.com/qmrMUEiSWv

I have received my share of hate-mail and nasty comments in the course of speaking my mind on this blog. I checked with a lawyer if I needed to put in some kind of a disclaimer. My respect for lawyers comes a distant second to my respect for corrupt politicians. My lawyer said there was no need. So, here it is.![]() |

1. All the contents of Subho's Jejune Diet, other than guest posts and unless otherwise specified, arise out of Subho’s own peculiar brand of madness, one that he believes is essential for the survival of our species.
2. Your obsession to throw it all to the wind and follow your heart after reading this blog will not pass.
3. Repeated visits to SJD will strengthen your obsession and compel you to take action.
4. Readers are advised to seek no professional help following the emergence of symptoms after reading SJD. The only antidote in such times is to reorganize and dedicate your life to the cause of helping people around you find true happiness.
5. SJD takes no responsibility for your happier and more meaningful life.
6a. Any profit that you have made by virtue of this blog or this disclaimer belongs to you, and SJD would like to have nothing to do with it.
6b. A comment, a link, or a mention will be nice though.
PS: I am expecting my subscriber/reader/follower count to fall drastically after this post, but hey, you cannot save your ass and your face at the same time.
Lol !
ReplyDeletei told you so, ash... stay happy.
Deletelol. you left us with a tough choice. Face or ass? Perhaps this is the first legal document that amused me.
ReplyDeletethanks, LeoPaw. you bring a smile to my face very often with your work. and thanks for listing me in your blogroll too.
Deletehahahaha...so u receive hate mail huh? I guess you are ruffling plenty of feathers:)
ReplyDeleteOk, SJD, here I submit myself to the torture of your words and thoughts and permit myself voluntarily to suffer from the obsession of living a more meaningful life. In btw, I am so glad you do not want anything from my profits because I am going to rake in it:):)
rake. rake. my commission was factored in even before i knew it.
DeleteI guess the number of hate mails is directly proportional to popularity. Right?
ReplyDeleteIf some hate mail can be re-directed, send it at Freebird. I am sick of sweet saccharine ones....'Loved your blog' types.....:)
i find that the haters are really people who hate their own inability to make choices that they know are right at the end of the day. will direct them to your blog from now, he he he.
DeleteI just blasted a close friend and her readers for not speaking their mind and I come here and see this :D Talk about irony of the day. Some place they are too fake & sweet, some place they are too hateful.
ReplyDeletenature ensures that all things are balanced, and hate and fake sweetness are perhaps nature's ways to make us realize the value of those who tell us things as they are, who honor our right to differ, and encourage us to become who were meant to be. very glad to see you here, chintan, hope you will be back for more.
DeleteLove me...hate me...diss me...but you can't ignore me! It won't be me leaving on a Jet plane :p
ReplyDeletecouldn't agree more, purba. getting this post out of my system has helped me get back into my usual pacific state of mind. there is enough room on the spaceship for whoever doesn't like the truth on their face.
DeleteThe fact that you receive hate mail means that someone is worried that you might be right, which only means that you are on the right path. So, keep it up. Long live SJD .....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Raghu. The fact that my writing riles people who know me only through my writing is encouraging. I thought I could only do that in person.
DeleteI must say that this post of yours has come at almost apt time. It is for my last post (Hitched for Life) that I received a very annoying comment and a mail. I never follow why would anybody read a blog if they hate the person who writes it?
ReplyDeleteWell! I have always loved reading your posts mainly because they are insightful. Now I know why. Psychotherapist huh? :) Please do not let any mails or worthless comments come in your way of writing.
P.S: This disclaimer seems to be a very good idea :)
Thanks, Haritha, glad you liked this disclaimer. I noticed that comment on your post, but I would not pay too much attention to it, as it appears to either be a personal attack, or someone who is just pissed at the fact that you are happy. You are entirely too nice a person to have let it go through. I usually draw the line at anything that is personal or hateful. I get those too, but more than that I get people who are so stuck in a materialistic, power-crazy, consumption-oriented belief system that my writing upsets their false sense of security, and I guess that is where their annoyance comes from. A dialog is fine as long as it is held within the boundaries of decency and respect for differences in opinion.
DeleteI tend to keep my past dabbling with psychotherapy out of the picture because most of my personal beliefs are contrary to conventional models of understanding the mind. Additionally, I did not go through the usual education in psychology, and most of my training was with pioneers of alternative holistic health approaches. I believe that an understanding of the mind is incomplete without an understanding of the spirit and the laws behind it. I believe that the purpose of the mind is to seek and understand the spirit. It is better I stop now, or else this will turn into a post!!
All bloggers get hate mail. I either delete them or if displayed give it back. Why spoil my peace of mind? And, no one has a right to come and insult me at my space, even if they find what I wrote offensive. They always have a choice not to read. Abuse of any kind must not be tolerated.
ReplyDeletei let a few of them go through if they add relevant perspective. but i prefer to delete most of them since i would like 'my space' to be a pleasant one for those who care enough to join a discussion.
DeleteWhat was that Subho? i always wondered why you don't come up with some fun stuffs and here it is. enjoyed reading this. please post more of these :D
ReplyDeletethanks, deb, for letting me know how boring the rest of the stuff here is. with friends like you, i will never get to be president of india.
Deletelol .. a very different way of putting a disclaimer!!!
ReplyDeletethanks, rahul. you might also like my copyright - or uncopyright - philosophy for my work. see link
Deletehttp://subhorup.blogspot.com/2011/10/frugal-halloween-party-ideas.html
Lol ..BTW who cares keep writing :)
ReplyDeletethanks, alka. i think the problem is not so much whether to keep writing or not, but to help them to see the reason for their anger and unhappiness. that would be the first step for them to move towards happiness.
DeleteHate mail? Really? This is one blog that tries to make better persons of us.
ReplyDeleteLove that 'Punch' line. I'd never thought about that. You really can't save both, can you? :D.
thanks, divya. i tried. for many years. doesn't work. don't try.
Deletehaha...interesting....:)
ReplyDeleteand, yes the more those "hate mails"(as you call them) the more i get influenced to write..as a matter of fact it works as catalyst for me...so just carry on..:)
BTW 1st time here but looking at couple of familiar faces in the comment section feeling like home here....:))
Best wishes,
irfan.
welcome home, irfan, the one without a key, the shift key. hope you will keep coming back to see when this blog finally stops updating. the bids just aren't attractive enough yet.
DeleteSo now you have turned to humor? But i doubt if you get any hate mails---after all you do not rile anyone's feathers.
ReplyDeletehumor is the best anger management technique, i am told. and i do rile, trust me, you are lucky to have not met the riled ones.
DeleteWodehouse wouldn't have been ashamed to write that disclaimer, finally letting that funny bone out? Enjoyed the article.
ReplyDeletedoc, good to see you back on the comments threads. you are entirely too kind, and your comparison way off. the absurdity of our times is something that calls for a similarly mystic response, one which i am still struggling to find. thanks and do stick around.
Delete:))
ReplyDeletethanks, deepak bhai.
DeleteLOL...
ReplyDelete:))
thank you, panchali.
DeleteThat is very cheeky. Loved it. :D
ReplyDeletehe he. hope you are keeping well these days. good to see you back in full form again. some love for your blog too.
DeleteThis is as good a disclaimer as any I have come across, only the others don't realise how incredibly funny disclaimers can be :) I keep coming back here to post comments on the ones I like, but never seem to get a response! Perhaps they are inane ones? Because they certainly are not hate ones :)
ReplyDeleteI respond to comments most of the time, Zephyr, and if you have noticed a pattern of not getting a response, please know that it is coincidental. I cherish your inputs, and I know when I hear from you, I've either got something right or something very wrong.
DeleteI read the post first time, I was surprised. Hate mails to your blog? I read it again now. Still cant figure why. This blog is a balanced one, and you write about relevant topics , to enhance our daily life.
ReplyDeleteHope , who ever it is, is viewing the sense of disgust we all are feeling. This blog is not for hate mails.
SJD, I liked the disclaimer:-).
ReplyDeletelol .. i superliked this post !
